Investigating how power shapes housing in Philadelphia—and developing people-centered solutions to change it.
People’s Housing Lab (PHL) is a volunteer-driven team of researchers, writers, and organizers working to reshape Philadelphia’s housing policy around the people who actually live here — not the billionaire investors profiting off our neighborhoods. We study how power shapes housing, interrogate housing policy myths, and center the lived experiences of residents. By exposing the predatory forces that create scarcity and instability, we contribute evidence-based, non-delusional, people-focused solutions grounded in the belief that housing is a human right and that our city deserves an economy that truly serves all Philadelphians.
