hello! we are PORTFIEND, a system of disabled trans animal people. we describe ourselves as an "all-around helper"; while it's hard for us to focus on any single topic for long, we like to create things that are insightful, useful, or fun for other people.
we create, or have created over the years: illustrations, vector art, emojis/icons, 3D models, software, games, websites, essays, tutorials, creative writing, zines, worldbuilding, game mods. we love teaching people new things, and we love sharing our various interests! we like video games, social games, old software, datamining and reverse-engineering, graphic design, web art, furry art, web culture, toys and more.
our combination of disabilities makes it unfeasible for us to get a job, and our general "smorgasbordyness" and inconsistent output/medium/subject matter makes it hard for us to market ourselves as a freelancer.
it's a difficult pitch to sell, but if i do or create anything that you find interesting or useful, please consider throwing me a little support! i can't exactly guarantee i'll make more of whatever it is that caught your eye (though i probably can), but it'll help me do more all-around helping. plus, i wouldnt mind hearing from supporters what they'd like to see more of...!!!
THE MEMBERS OF PORTFIEND
we are a plural system, so all of these members share a body. PORTFIEND is a "solo" project.
for more information on plurality/systemhood, check out morethanone.info and healthymultiplicity.com!
we use any pronouns collectively. as a system we are most often just called "huck" or "vyn". this is pretty much all you need to know!
THINGS I AM CURRENTLY DOING
i run a personal website at portfiend.quest, which desperately needs to be updated but i intend to put more guides and resources and blog posts there at some point. i also host info about my original characters at spawo.neocities.org.
i run the store Can I Get The Real Stuff? on Second Life, where i sell fun, stylized, and unconventional avatars, toys, building components, mesh assets, scripts, and more - with the goal of breaking the mold of what is typically seen on SL. my store is also part of a creative collective called SCRIMBLO WORLD who make cute and toony avatars and mods; the store for that can be found in-world at FUTURA.
i am part of Homebrew Deviants, who have their own patreon. i do worldbuilding, programming, character design, site maintenance, web design, and wiki things there.
i'm also part of the disabled artist support community I HATE ART, hosted by the folks over at Eggware.XYZ. we do many different things at IHA, namely collecting resources for artists.
every now and again i post a picture to one of my art accounts below.
THINGS I HAVE DONE IN THE PAST
from 2019-2021, i ran the blog customemoji on tumblr where i made over a thousand twemoji-style vector arts and edits, free for anyone to use forever. i've been meaning to sort and name them in an all-in-one zip file but i have been unable to focus on this!! oops!!!!!!
i've made several eleventy-based website templates that i've uploaded to my github, such as a webcomic template and a directory for displaying character/worldbuilding info. no server needed - when you compile the templates, they generate static HTML files you can upload to hosts like neocities!
i've made two zines: Some Artist You Are and this time for sure, about artistic struggle. here is a preview of the latter:

one time i made this epic thing?

i made the pattern for it and everything. i didn't put the pattern anywhere though. it's just on my computer.
in the past i've hosted game servers for minecraft, space station 14, and more. however, websites, domains, and game servers are quite expensive to upkeep!!!!! ouch!!!!! (if you've seen my friends on bsky with usernames ending in "nicefriends.online", i also pay for that that domain.)
from january 2023 to june 2025, i did game, website, and bot programming at Toontown: Corporate Clash. like this:

WHAT DO I GET FOR SUPPORTING PORTFIEND?
i will try to use this platform to keep updates on what i've been up to!
for paying donations, i can't really guarantee you supporter rewards regularly. however, i am more than happy to hear questions/feedback and i will try to be more responsive to those who choose to support me.
i can give you my second life products for free? or if you're like "hey i liked the 3d thing or the vector thing or the thing-that-is-multiple-layers-and-parts-compiled-into-one-clean-output-asset thing you did can i have the source files so i can reverse engineer it" i will probably say yes.
if i make enough money, i can do more things and pay for my website without getting horrible anxiety, which some may consider to be a reward in itself!
WHERE TO FIND PORTFIEND
personal website: portfiend.quest
social media:
creative stuff:
other places to toss me money:
Milestone: $0 of $20 / month
if i make $20/mo, i can comfortably pay for all the things i do that require annual/monthly subscriptions - such as web and server hosting.

Hi! A rough update of where I am: I became the head maintainer of the Space Station 14 server I play on most, which means I do a lot of code review and game design direction stuff there. It also means I do a lot of development work myself, but it's mostly "glorified digital slinky" stuff. M... Continue reading

The furry-alternative Second Life event "Abnormality" is here! The event runs from May 7 to May 28, and front-and-slightly-off-center is Scrimblo World, a collective of Second Life stores that I happen to be apart of, as Can I Get The Real Stuff?. The theme for this quarter is The Garden, and there'... Continue reading
