Welcome! I'm a writer and game dev who releases one game each month, along with related short fiction or a setting zine. For those of you who are learning to code games in the Godot engine, I also write in-depth, beginner-to-intermediate PDF tutorials for Godot 4.4, each one covering a single 2D game mechanic featured in the month's game — complete with screenshots, explanations, and at higher tiers, downloadable source code.
Every month, I release two tutorials that break down the how and why of building polished, reusable systems in Godot. These tutorials are designed to help you build real games, not just prototypes using modular components.
One small game and one related piece of fiction
2 original PDF tutorials per month using the game of the month
Access to the recent tutorial back catalog
The month's game OR its fiction
Behind-the-scenes updates, previews, and dev insights
The month's game AND its fiction

I’m a solo developer passionate about making complex systems clear and approachable for new devs. These tutorials take time, testing, and care to create, and your support helps me make more of them, more consistently. I've been struggling to find work, so the support helps keep me going in these uncertain financial times.
You can check out a free tutorial on itch.io and see exactly what you’ll be learning as a patron: https://mcoorlim.itch.io/kerplunk

The tutorials I'll be posting for $20 tier patrons will be written with the assumption that the reader understands the basics of the engine - what a node is, how signals work. Accordingly, I've written up a very basic tutorial aimed at those who've never used the engine before, to explain these conc... Continue reading

I programmed my first games on a TRS-80 micro my mom picked up for me at a garage sale in the late 80s. If you're not familiar, this was a little keyboard that you could hook up to your television. I loved video games and computers as much as I loved reading and writing - and as we were not well off... Continue reading

The page itself gives a pretty good overview of what I'm all about, but you might be curious about how things turned out that way. The short version is that in the early Obama years I stopped being able to find work and ended up couch surfing for a few years, jumping from friends' place to friends' ... Continue reading
