April is always interesting because it is my birthday month and so I try to go a little lighter on my various goals (not counting my week off to-do list), but things do keep getting done.

  • Blog post this week was musing on difficulty and decisions in games, thanks to reading How to Talk About Difficulty at A Knight at the Opera.
  • Started on next month's newsletter. May I finish it timely.
  • Speaking of, April's newsletter went out on Monday, it's about the rats again.
  • I made my to-do list for my upcoming time off (starting next Friday!) and it's a balance of fun and tasks I'd like to do lazily.
  • I've begun what I hope is the last leg of my Tumblr tag cleaning project. I cannot explain to you how satisfying it is to do, metadata-related cleanups. When mentioning it, I feel like I am saying a thing I always say, which is that any actively used database or system is a living thing that needs regular assessment and modification so that it smoothly fits into how people use it. In this case the people is me and I just want to be able to find posts I have reblogged with some ease. The peculiarities of how one can pull all the tags they've used on tumblr means I don't feel as though the 2559 tags I'm handling are all of them, but also this is my third or fourth survey/attempt to organise them so I do think it's probably close to correct. Nearly half are just talking in the tags, which thankfully are easy things to find, label and discard from the actual organisational process.

A reminder that this year's Flash Fiction collection is up on Itch for a dollar and that you can find previous year's flash fiction under the flash fiction tag on the blog.

Thank you, as always, for your support!
