Who are you?
Hi, I'm vidhya! I'm a disabled, fat, Indian trans woman who organizes out of unceded Potawatomi and Anishinaabe territory. In the past decade I have worked across a wide variety of issue areas and with a large variety of tactics, but currently I find the most fulfillment out of political and popular education work.

Why are you here?
I caught COVID in 2022, was laid up for a year and a half, and was let go from my job in that stretch. Since then, I have not found a reliable source of income despite my best efforts. I am fortunate enough to be in a class position that allows me to rely on my access to debt, so I am stable for the time-being, but this is unsustainable long-term. Consider this a deeply impactful tip-jar, but not a dire need for survival. Any help here is welcome if you feel called to it, but there are many valuable ways to engage in mutual aid with many resources beyond the fiscal.

What will you spend money on?

  • My existing debt and living expenses
  • Local mutual aid as and when I can
  • Resources for local organizing projects
  • My joy
    • This one is often seen as unnecessary, but finding ways to engage in activities that bring joy is critical in addressing the constant burnout from organizing. This isn't "retail therapy" in the way that Audre Lorde's self-care has been reduced to. Rather, this is a recognition that all my needs are important, including the ones capitalism has conditioned me to ignore. In addition, this money will be spent on activities I can share with people to further build community and reduce isolation.

What can I expect from you?

  • Political musings that aren't formulated well enough to publish.
  • Occasional complete articles as and when I can.
  • Updates on the work I am doing along with background political education and explanations of theories of change.
  • Links to any recorded media of my work
  • Occasional workshop designs and explanations.
